Direct answer. DaoAI is an alternative to Nordson YESTECH AOI for SMT and through-hole lines. The key difference is how a new board gets programmed. Every DaoAI AOI programs itself from one golden board in 30 seconds to 5 minutes. No CAD, Gerber or component library is required. Nordson YESTECH's FX-940 ULTRA 3D AOI takes a different approach: its product literature lists automatic programming tools (under 30 minutes), a CAD translation package and a standard package library. DaoAI's inline 3D machines, the P5 and P5D, are available now. All AI runs on the machine, and sales and engineering support comes from DaoAI's North American team in Vancouver, plus authorized partners.

How does programming compare?
YESTECH's published materials describe a fast, tool-assisted workflow. The FX-940 ULTRA literature states that operators typically take less than 30 minutes to create a complete inspection program, lists a CAD translation package for Aegis, Unicam and Fabmaster data, and describes a standard package library "to simplify training and ensure program portability." Off-line programming is also listed.
DaoAI starts from the physical board instead. You load one golden board, and the machine builds the inspection program from it in 30 seconds to 5 minutes. No CAD, Gerber or component library is required, so a new board can be inspected as soon as the first good one comes off the line. CAD or BOM data is optional, never required. For a step-by-step view of how this works, see AOI programming without CAD files.
For a line that changes boards several times a shift, the difference compounds: minutes per changeover, times changeovers per week, times the number of lines.
What does each lineup cover?
DaoAI offers one software platform across four machine types: offline 2D (P1, P1L, P2), inline 2D (P3, P3D), inline 3D (P5, P5D, available now) and through-hole (A3, pre- and post-wave in one machine). Every model uses the same golden-board programming, so a program approach learned on an offline P1 carries over to an inline P5 3D AOI.
Nordson YESTECH's published lineup has included the FX-940 ULTRA inline 3D AOI, the FX-942 dual-sided AOI for solder and plated through-hole applications, and the BX benchtop AOI. YESTECH also describes itself as a supplier of conformal coat inspection systems. Nordson's current AOI product page lists SQ-series multi-function systems and the MX3000, and links to a QX-series 2D AOI line; if you are planning a new purchase, ask Nordson which YESTECH models are offered today.
Where does the AI run, and who supports you?
All AI on a DaoAI machine runs on the machine, and inspection data never leaves your factory. That matters for defense, medical and automotive programs where board images are controlled data. See on-premise AI AOI and data security.
The YESTECH materials reviewed do not state where inspection software or any AI processing runs. Ask Nordson directly.

What drives total cost of ownership?
Over the life of an AOI, these costs usually outweigh the purchase price, whether you choose DaoAI or Nordson YESTECH:
- Time to first good program. Include any wait for CAD data, data translation or library work.
- Changeovers. Programming minutes per new board, times new boards per month, times lines.
- Review labor. Operator minutes spent confirming false calls. With tuning, DaoAI's false-call rate can reach about 1%.
- Coverage across the line. Whether offline, inline 3D and through-hole stations share one programming method, so engineers learn it once.
- Support. Where the engineers who answer your call are based. DaoAI's North American team is in Vancouver, plus authorized partners.

How to evaluate DaoAI against Nordson YESTECH on your own boards
Run the same boards through both systems and record the same numbers side by side:
- Time to first good program. Start the clock when the board arrives. Include any time spent waiting for CAD data, translating it or adding packages to a library.
- Changeover time. Time a full switch between two of your real products.
- Detection. Use boards with known defects, such as solder bridging, lifted leads and polarity reversal, and count escapes.
- False-call review time. Log operator minutes per board over a few hundred boards, before and after tuning.
- Through-hole. If you wave-solder, test the same THT board before and after wave.
- Data handling. Confirm where images and models are stored and whether the system needs a network connection.
